I just did a full 180° on livestreaming

Longtime readers may recall that I've been banging on about wanting to livestream using my phone for nearly 10 (ten!) years.

YouTube lets anyone livestream from their computer but mobile livestreaming is restricted to peeps with at least 1,000 subscribers.

I've been slowly adding to my YouTube fan base and as of today 914 people have joined my club.

You can too!

But when I read a New York Times article online headlined "Does Twitch Fame Have To Come With A Stalker?" (the headline in the paper is "How Streaming Stars Pay the Price of Online Fame"), I woke up and smelled the swatting.

Even if I get to 1,000 subscribers I may pass on mobile livestreaming and just keep on making short videos whenever the mood strikes me, the way I've always done.

One stalker is all it takes to ruin your life.

I know this because about ten years ago I returned home to find some snacks in my mailbox along with a note that read something like this:

I was driving through Charlottesville en route from New York to my new home in Florida so I thought I'd stop by to meet you since I enjoy your blog so much.

Sorry I missed you!

Tell you what, that creeped me out BIG TIME.

Why?

Because if I'd been home I'd have opened the door and had to deal with this stranger, something I have less than zero interest in doing.

What if he was crazy like Annie Wilkes in "Misery?"

Tossed those snacks in the trash, BTW.
