Neolithic Sculpture

"The Thinker" (above) and "Sitting Woman" (below),

both of fired clay and 4.5" tall, were discovered together in a necropolis (graveyard) comprising around 400 graves in the lower Danube region near Cernavodă in southeast Romania in 1956.

They have been dated to approximately 5000 BCE.
