New ways to make money with Shorts
Above, an email I got today from YouTube.
I've previously remarked that Shorts — YouTube's riposte to TikTok and Reels — are WAY more popular among my fans — I'm up to 1,043 subscribers BTW — than my livestreams and ordinary videos.
Now they're gonna help me cash in.
No worries: I currently average about $1/month in YouTube advertising income, a small fraction of the monthly $20 or so Google ads bring in.
Reading the fine print in YouTube's email, I see that they've once again set requirements I can't meet, like the bar of 1,000 subscribers to unlock mobile livestreaming I only reached last month after nearly ten years.
To enter the YouTube Partner Program starting in early 2023, I will need to accumulate 10 million Shorts views over a 90-day period.
Tell you what: at the rate I accumulate Shorts views — about 2,500/day — it'll take me approximately 10 years to make the grade.
Good thing I'm experienced with distant targets when it comes to YouTube, what?
