The single best thing about Google Chrome is Reader Mode

But you have to work a bit to get it.

Do EXACTLY what it says here.

Once you have it, there's one thing you must not do: Update Chrome.

                         

If you do, the experimental Reader Mode will disappear and you will have to again go through all those steps to restore it.

Much better to rest on your current Chrome laurels.

To do that you need to disable Automatic Updates.
