Wrote Michael Maslin (himself a New Yorker cartoonist): "What follows is a work in progress — it doesn't pretend to be a complete list of The New Yorker's cartoonists. A complete list is likely impossible as The New Yorker itself has not been able to identify a number of early contributors."
