T&CO Cuff Links

I saw these in an ad in the New York Times and at first glance thought they read "TACO" — then the penny dropped and I realized they were from Tiffany.

Tiffany, like Apple ("Sent from my iPad"), is one of many luxe companies that have succeeded in getting people to pay premium prices for their products and then advertise them while in use.

back in the 60s, i watched my dad use a hot air blower to melt the glue and remove the dealer's name plate off the back of our new blue chevrolet station wagon, i think it was a '66 biscayne.

i asked him why?

he said "the dealer doesn't go around advertising for us, i'm not advertising for him.
