BehindTheMedspeak: Starting now anyone can buy an FDA-approved continuous glucose monitor — without a prescription
That's a HUGE deal as many people have been clamoring for years for the FDA to bring these devices out from behind the formidable You-have-to-visit-a-doctor-and-get-a-prescription-first barrier.
Me, I wouldn't use one if they paid me.
Diff'rent strokes.
$89.

Joe, the people have spoken. We want to know why you wouldn't use one of these devices even if they paid you. Do you think they are inaccurate? Measuring glucose continuously is unnecessary? Aesthetics? Other?

+1 for wanting to know why you are opposed to using a CGM.
Seems like a potential game-changer for those teetering in pre-diabetes seeking to understand what intake choices are most problematic. Some foods & drinks are obviously going to cause spikes, but it seems like a CGM device could be a big help in making the wearer be more aware of and armed to avoid many less-obvious dietary pitfalls.

I am mildly diabetic, controlled with minimal drugs and plenty of exercise.
I don't need a CGM, but I think I could learn a lot from using one for a while.

My first experience with cgm was with a type 1 friend that would watch his glucose level when he was out drinking beer. Probably not the best use of cgm, but it helped him immensely for overall regulation. I've always been curious about getting one so I can tell what causes spikes beyond the obvious. My weight went down and stabilized after I retired. Who knew that sitting around most of the day staring at a screen wasn't good for you?!

Hopefully this will help bring the price down.

Long-time reader. Never felt compelled to comment until now. Curious to understand why you are so vehemently against using a CGM device.
