Futility Closet
"Futility Closet is a collection of entertaining curiosities in history, literature, language, art, philosophy, and mathematics, designed to help you waste time as enjoyably as possible."
From time to time over the decades I've seen mentions of the Futility Closet website but for some reason yesterday I spent a little time there, which expanded to a lot of time.
I discovered that Futility Closet grand panjandrum Greg Ross started it on January 1, 2005: 20 years ago!
Why, that's only four months after I started boj.
Up top, "About Futility Closet."
The very first Futility Closet post:
FunFact: only after I'd spent about twenty minutes preparing this post did the penny drop such that I got the wonderful joke in the website's name.
Beyond sublime.

Functional Tile — 'Hide in Plain Sight'
I love these.
Designed by Peter van der Jagt, Erik-Jan Kwakkel, and Arnout Visser for Droog.
Why not have your tiles do something other than collect mildew?
Perfect for the minimalist.

Back To The Future: What's Old Is New Again
[Here you can see the original 1983 G-Shock (left) compared to the DW-5000R recreation (right).]
Long story short: Casio's new DW-5000R is a faithful re-creation of the first G-Shock digital watch, which launched in 1983.
The G-Shock DW-5000R will be available in Japan on December 13th, priced at 33,000 yen (about $217).
No word yet about U.S. pricing and availability: stay tuned.
Wait a sec — what's that song I'm hearing?
