U.S. Power Outage Map
Talk about timely!
I just happened on this real-time map of U.S. power outages
and I am here to tell you that's it's spot on.
Up top, the scene at my house, where fierce wind knocked out the power about 45 minutes ago.
I heard a huge BANG in front and got to the window in time to hear two more from atop the power line at the end of my driveway, each accompanied by a bright white flash as all three transformers blew out.

'The Invisible Collection' — Stefan Zweig
Time to take a reading break, what?
Whatever it is you're doing most likely can wait for a while.
Stefan Zweig's 1925 story is about a collector on the hunt for an elusive Berlin art dealer.
The fact that it's still vibrant and absorbing explains why 99 years after publication it deserves pride of place here.
Though most likely you'd never heard of him before this post, the Austrian writer at the height of his literary career in the 1920s and 1930s was one of the most popular and widely translated writers in the world.
The story is free, the way we like it.
